A Note To Educators

This webquest is a step-by step syllabus that can be used as a unit of instruction on basic video techniques.  It utilizes a building-block approach to teach students the art and technique of video production.  Video tutorials are the primary means of instruction in each of the areas.  ISTE and Content-based Standards are provided in the Reference section.  Educators wishing to use this webquest should supplement the material provided here with procedures specific to your school and/or classroom.

Getting Involved in Video Production

Students, are you looking for a way to share your opinion with the world and show others to see how much you really know?  Do you have a friend with interesting talents you would like to showcase?  A great way to highlight the things going on in your life and in your school is to create a video.  This webquest will step you through the process of making a professional looking video with consumer-grade products, many of which you may have in your backpack or classroom right now.

Take a look at the example to the right.  This project is from a US History  class.  The original assignment was to write an essay on how the first Pilgrims' landing affected the creation of our country.  One enterprising student asked if he could create a video essay instead.  His script fulfilled the assignment, but creating the video was fun and involved all of the students in the class. It was engaging and valuable to all people involved.  To make a quality video such as this, you will need some tools and some training.  This webquest will provide those tools.
